Ceramic artist Susan Goldstein, a very active member in Lexington's art community, has also been a member of several other organizations. These include the Opera House Gallery, The Kentucky Guild of Artist and Craftsmen and the Lexington Arts & Cultural Council.
Susan started her career as a studio artist in 1974. Over the years she has had many great accomplishments including several awards. Susan received the Ceramics Non-Functional Award as a part of the Silverhawk 4th Annual Fine Crafts Exhibition. She has also received the Al Smith Fellowship Award from the Kentucky Arts Council as well as being awarded the Purchase Award at the Woodland Arts Fair three times.
Susan Goldstein's art has a unique sense of style. Susan uses visual deception to both confuse and intrigue the viewer. Much of Susan's artwork exemplifies movement although it is made out of clay that is hard and rigid. She takes the natural hard texture of the clay and turns it into beautiful pieces that look more like they have been made of a soft fabric.
