KMAC is pleased to present the first published catalogue of exhibited works by Matthew Ronay. Matthew Ronay The Theird Attention includes essays by Dr. John Hale, Director of the Leberal Studeis Program at the University of Louisville and Matthew Drutt (M.A. Yale University) Executive Director of the Blouin Cultural Advisory Group.

Ronay will be at KMAC from 12-2pm on May 11th for his catalogue release and signing. The catalogue will be available for $32 and can be purchased in the Museum Shop. Museum Members receive a 10% discount.

School’s out for Kentucky Oaks so drop in anytime between noon and 3pm on Friday, May 3rd to the 3rd Floor Education studio for some hands-on art making fun. Participants will be making tissue paper roses and designing their own jockey silk using a resist painting technique.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft presents the Louisville premiere of the ambient and minimalistic electro-acoustic music of Icelandic composer, producer and musician Valgeir Sigurðsson.

Be sure to catch this rare appearance by Sigurðsson who is currently on tour to support his third solo effort, Architecture of Loss. Known for chillingly beautiful compositions (and collaborations with such artists as Björk and CocoRosie), Sigurðsson is dedicated to advancing music at the intersection of the new chamber and indie scenes.

Nadia Sirota on viola joins Sigurðsson on piano and electronics to present a show that will be truly memorable.

The second Sunday of each month the third floor Education studio opens its doors for participants of all ages and skill levels to make meaningful connections through contemporary art and craft. Drop in any time between 12:00 and 3:00 and explore your creativity while creating art that you can take home! This month works will be created using “found” objects introducing participants to the fascinating world of assemblage art. Pieces from KMAC’s folk art collection will be used as inspiration.
