LETTER FROM THE
PRESIDENT
Welcome
to the Kentucky
Museum of Art and Craft!
Now in our 27th year, we continue to grow and thrive with four unique
exhibition galleries, a burgeoning sales gallery, popular workshops in our
education centers, and a new artist-in-residence program for emerging
artists.
KMAC's
mission to promote and support art and craft excellence in Kentucky translates into
cutting-edge exhibitions and programs offered nowhere else in the
Commonwealth. 2008 shows include: American Tapestry Alliance Biennial, an
exhibition spotlighting some of the best contemporary tapestry weavers from
around the world; Kentucky Artists
Series: The Photographic Art of Julius Friedman, a concentration of Friedman
s photography and graphic works presented in non-traditional ways; Kentucky Collectors Series: Shelly Zegart:
Passionate About Quilts, an exhibit of about two dozen quilts from Zegart s
personal collection; Marvin Finn: A
Retrospective, an exhibit of Finn's folk art that includes his famous
painted wooden roosters, and Holidazzle, an annual exhibit of
hand-crafted fine art available for purchase.
By
presenting approximately 15 exhibitions per year and reaching more than 65,000
viewers annually, KMAC continues to play an important role in adding to
Kentucky s
arts and cultural initiatives and economic development. This would not be
possible without the generous support of our members, donors and corporate
sponsors. Thank you for your contributions. If you are new to the museum, please
get involved! If you are not yet a member, please stop by and chat with our
dedicated staff to learn more about the benefits of museum
membership.
Thank you
for your interest in our organization. We invite you to spend time discovering
the beauty and diversity of Kentucky art and craft.
Sincerely,
Mary Stone
President
of the Board
