KURT MOYER Ontelaunee Spillway, 2003
Main Virginville, PA Oil on wood , 13" x 16"    $900

I use traditional, time proven approaches to painting, with an emphasis on painting from nature.

It is the colors that draw me to live part of each day in the verdant fields and woods. Painting in the midst of nature cultivates an internal palette, possible to recall even in the confines of my studio. I believe the landscape, above all other subjects, lends itself to the exploration of color and the influence of atmospheric change. Landscapes are the definitive image of beauty and simple understanding. They provide the viewer with a sense of place, as well as the opportunity for unhurried reflection.

Reviews

"His brushwork dances with inflection and liveliness yet never falls into tedium. The creamy textures and subdued color scheme always seem vigorously applied yet alternately calm, proclaiming an enthusiastic balance of energy and poise." (Ron Shira, Reading Eagle/Times, May 22, 2000)

"His work continues to be consistent. Kurt's style possesses a quiet intimacy which draws the viewer into each piece." (Debbie Moore, Gallery 20, Reading, PA)
