Nature has served as a source of images in my work over the years. I am drawn to its generative force and have tried to transform it visually. The current paintings describe in abstract terms the essence of water, atmospheric conditions and times of day. They are landscapes in the broad sense but represent no specific geographic area.

Varying depths of space are explored. A pronounced horizon created by a line shared by two rectangles divides the format. Sitting on this horizon is the focal point, a freely drawn segment of a circle. This segment in “the pool.”

The sky, pool and water are not always in the same space. Vertical stripes of wter or rain move at different visual levels hidden by layers and then exposed at the bottom edge, marking the process of dripping. A large vocabulary of patterns helps to produce various rhythms for time.

When exhibited together, the images should merge with their similarities into a singular world of visual diversity. This is when the viewer actively participates in the aesthetic experience by seeing the manipulations of patterns, textures, colors and space used to compose the visual variations on a theme where each variation is a unique vision expressing its own emotion.
