Nightfall Tapestry III

Nightfall Tapestry II

I am interested in how light carries with it the sense of place, time, and mood. My work is not a description of a place, but rather an emotional response to being in a place. I am intrigued by the paradox of the "Far" and the "Near" and how our focus continually shifts between the two.

All my work deals with process: drawing is the foundation for etching, painting and monotype. Color layers are added in transparencies to create a sense of depth. Printmaking techniques are integral in my image development.

Andrea Knarr received her MFA in printmaking from the University of Cincinnati in 1988. She has been the printmaking coordinator at Northern Kentucky University since 1990. She teaches a full program of printmaking processes with a special focus on Intaglio and color printing. Her work has won numerous awards and has been shown extensively across the United States. She now resides in beautiful California Kentucky where the light reflecting off of the Ohio River is a constant source of inspiration.
